The IFR Football League brings together Malta’s corporate community for a structured season of competitive football, team building and networking.

Format at a glance

- Wednesday or Thursday evenings fixtures
- Three pitches operating simultaneously
- Kick-offs at 7pm, 8pm and 9pm

02 / Competition format
The league.
The divisions. The cup.
The final competition format will be based on whether 8, 10 or 12 company teams register for the season.
02Divisional split
Following the opening league:
1st to 4thDivision 1
5th to 8thDivision 2
All four teams in each division qualify for the divisional playoffs.
Minimum 16 matches guaranteed
The guarantee includes 14 opening-league matches, one divisional semi-final and at least one League Cup match.

All ten teams play each other once. Every team plays nine opening-league matches.
02Divisional split
Following the opening league:
1st to 5thDivision 1
6th to 10thDivision 2
Divisional standings reset to zero. Teams then play every opponent in their division twice, giving each team eight divisional matches.
The top four teams in each division qualify for the divisional playoffs.
Minimum 18 matches guaranteed

IFR League Cup
A separate straight-knockout competition will run alongside the league.
Fixtures will be determined through a random draw and played on designated Wednesday or Thursday evenings.
The IFR League Cup Final will take place on a separate date before Finals Saturday.
Every team is guaranteed at least one IFR League Cup match.

The two remaining cup teams compete for the first trophy of the season during a dedicated League Cup Final event.

A participation deposit is required to secure your company’s place.
22Season squadUp to 22 registered players
Each company may register a season squad of up to 22 players.
Only players included within the company’s official season squad may represent the team during league, Cup or playoff fixtures.
12Matchday team list6 starters + up to 6 substitutes
Before every round, each company must submit a matchday team list containing a maximum of 12 players selected from its registered season squad.
- Six starting players
- One goalkeeper and five outfield players
- Up to six substitutes
Players may be rotated throughout the season, provided they are included within the registered 22-player squad.
Once submitted, a matchday team list may only be changed with approval from the IFR Football League organisers.
